From the dragqueenstoryhour.org website: "Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) is just what it sounds like—drag queens reading stories to children in libraries, schools, and bookstores."
More from Middle School Humanities Teacher Ana Holly: "[Drag Queen Story Hour] teaches children about gender diversity and difference, builds empathy, teaches tolerance, and helps to prevent bullying. This is a high demand program that happens in hundreds of NYC libraries and schools, so we are excited to host it here at CGS!"
After Harmonica Sunbeam's reading and interactive songs, the Grade 4-5 and Middle School students participated in writing and drawing activities about diversity and inclusion.
Our Grade 4-5 and Middle School classes enjoyed their time with Harmonica Sunbeam, as seen in the video above and photos below!
Many thanks to Middle School Humanities Head Teacher Arielle Goldberger, Ms. Holly, Grade 3-4-5 Head Teacher Christie DiStefano, Mr. Jay (from our local Hamilton Fish Library), and other library and all CGS staff who coordinated and supported this amazing event!
